Snow!!

There's been a lot of snow in Dundee and the weather last night was fierce! So I thought, great! I'm gonna take advantage of this! So Heather agreed to frolic in the snow for me this afternoon while the snow was still fresh and fluffy!
I took the photos, her outfit was styled by me and I did her make up too.
Isn't she pretty?

Hollie's a shooting star!

I had the honour of shooting the beautiful Hollie Morrison.
I did the hair, make up, photography, editing and I chose the outfits! Phew! I'm a one man band! Haha!
Kudos to Hollie, she was very patient, encouraging and altogether lovely!

Update

I was feeling a bit restless today and needed some fresh air so I hopped on a bus to Broughty Ferry for a wee change of scenery. I managed to take 3 photographs over the water before the batteries died! Haha
I love dramatic looking skies! And I really do feel so blessed to have such beautiful scenery so close by!

Other news:
I'm off work at the moment with a viral illness which is really frustrating, but it has given me time to think about and prepare some make up/hair/photoshoot type stuff, which is the silver lining. I now have a few very clear ideas and I'm so excited! (don't get me wrong, it's not all fun and games, I'm tired all the time and having horrible dizzy spells!)

Rainbow Eye

I bought a neon eyeshadow palette today and decided to do a wee experiment on myself to see how the colours show up etc.  So this is my answer to the rainbow picture in my skint but smiling entry, what do you think?

Fakes

Hmmmmf.
We are not amused!
My 'MAC pigments' arrived this morning and they are fake fake fake, even though the seller appeared genuine. (UK seller, auction - not 'buy it now' great communication and not a super seller, generally a buyer) So I'm currently trying to get my money back and when I do, I'll buy Barry M Dazzle Dusts as they're also good, not too expensive and I can just buy them from a store.

Xchange shoot

A couple of months ago, the church I attend held a women's event called Xchange and it was a real success, with hundreds of women attending. The key performance was a dance show with photographs in the background depicting the weight of emotional problems on the lives of women today.
I had the great experience of helping out on the shoot for those images, with some of the hair and make up, here's a couple of the shots!
These photographs were taken by the fabulous Keri Fullwood

I ♥ Sunsets!

This afternoon at the last minute, as the sun began to fall, I decided to hop down to riverside and take some photographs! I'm really glad that I did as I think that I captured some rather pretty shots. I'm looking forward to getting a tripod though as they're maybe a bit 'soft'.

Pretty background

Today I covered a large canvas with beautiful wallpaper. I'm actually going to need to redo it though as this glue isn't strong enough so it's a little wrinkly.

Isn't it pretty though?

Skint but smiling!

I just bought a whole bunch of MAC pigments which are lovely vivid colours that can be used on eyes, cheeks, and lips. And show up great on camera! It looks like I'm definitely on my way to getting this started!

Inspiring me

So here's a wee glimpse of what's inspiring me at the moment

I'm excited!!

Thursday, 11 November 2010

Hello and welcome!

Well well well, it's all change in the heart of Lydia, and it's soooo exciting!
As many of you know, I'm quite a creative person and last year I was studying hairdressing at college, which was great! It was an outlet for my creativity, with competitions etc. to keep me going. However, this wasn't to be, God had other plans for me! I, however, had trouble handling this. I had to leave college because I was getting into more and more trouble financially, to work full time to get out of debt. I am doing this and slowly but surely getting there. The tough bit, though, is that I hadn't had an outlet for my creativity. This saddened my heart and I felt a bit stale.
But God gathered around me some very motivated and inspiring people recently who spurred me on to do something. And something, I will do!
So watch this space, http://www.inspiringlydia.blogspot.com , to be precise!
Photography, fashion make up, cool hairstyles, a prophetic art project or two and more are on the way...

In this blog, I plan to take you through this journey, let you see what inspires me and show you some of my work as it happens, I hope it'll be a fun and inspiring read...
Enjoy!

(Here's a wee taster of something I started today...)
